Truebeck Construction recently completed their expansion of Life Sciences space with the build out of Alexandria Center for Life Sciences (ACLS) in San Carlos and with an additional campus in Millbrae, just south of San Francisco.
These two life sciences projects set a benchmark for sustainable, transit-oriented development within the San Francisco Peninsula. The projects have created a new campus hub for Life Science companies south of the city but connected easily to it via multiple transportation corridors. These two centers create a new industry hub driving Life Science company research, innovation and discovery and include office space, lab space and parking with anchor tenant Eikon Therapeutics and a number of rapidly growing emerging companies in biotech. The projects leverage adherence to LEED energy conservation standards/certification, 100% outside air requirements of tenants, electro-chromatic exterior glass to mitigate solar heat and state-of-the-art technical features for the outfitting of lab and cold room storage and facilities.

Priority Architectural Graphics was pleased to be selected as the lead signage contractor, manufacturing and installing branded interior and exterior and wayfinding signage for Eikon Therapeutics, the anchor client in the Millbrae project. Our scope of work included a monument sign, various pylon wayfinding signs, parking and directional signs and the building-identification, exterior branded signage.
The Millbrae Life Sciences campus prioritizes transit connections, public open space, and walkable pedestrian corridors in line with the City of Millbrae’s goals for creating dense, vibrant communities. The project was designated a “Transit Oriented Development” or TOD in the Millbrae Station Area Specific Plan as the project lies at the intersection of Cal Train, BART and the 101 freeway.
Truebeck Construction’s vision for this high quality, first-class life sciences campus is to combine unique and natural architectural elements with urban amenities and conveniences, while fostering both scientific innovation and community for tenants and visitors. Sustainability elements and goals include LEED Gold, Fitwell certification, WELL certification, and an all-electric campus. Located at 30 Rollins Road, the new life sciences campus transforms 4.7 acres of city property into a new 660,775 square foot Life Sciences campus comprising 3 office/lab buildings, an amenity building and parking structure for 1,133 cars. The buildings, designed by WRNS Studios, surround a public walkway that visually connects the life sciences hub to adjacent housing, retail, and hotel developments. At its northern end, a freestanding amenities structure anchors the “paseo” walkway with an open plaza, fostering connections with neighboring properties.
Maria Santana, President of Priority Architectural Graphics notes “Alexandria Life Sciences, Eikon Therapeutics and Truebeck Construction is an assembled team of top-notch professionals. Their ability to drive projects forward and hold all stakeholders accountable is impressive and we were honored to be on the construction team for this transformative life sciences development project.”
